It has finally arrived, Dreams of Glory will soon be on Amazon as a kindle book. Amazon kindle is working with my publisher, Publish America to make this book as an ebook available in the next few months.

It has almost been 2 years already since the release of my book, wow, how time has flown. My book has been getting rave reviews from those around town and from friends of those friends. They love it and tell me how awesome it is, they say I have captured the realistic life of an aboriginal youth or even youths who leave the reservation, with high hopes of making it to the top rank junior A, or elite teams and then hope one day to don the jersey of an NHL team.

Our local library has copies of the book and to hear from those who borrowed it, its a great feeling to hear from those who have been touched by the story, it isn't always easy to be a player, there are some difficult choices one has to make, sometimes sacrifice in order to become an elite player. Some kids come up to me and ask if the book is about me, I smile and say, some but thats what makes it good right? the realism I try to put in. They say, its awesome and can't wait for the next one.

I also had some bad reviews, and sure it stings a little. But its like hockey, once you get knocked down, you just get right back up and join the play. these reviews are from those who don't know or understand hockey and sometimes people just like to be mean.

As a writer, I say writer because... I ain't use to the word (Author) just yet :) anyways, as a writer, my goal is to reach the youth and give them some encouragement to keep striving for their goals and dreams. This is what this story is about, chasing dreams. I know how tough it is, I faced it and so did you. Also I have played in the high ranks and faced a lot of peer pressure.

I didn't make a fortune from it as some ask, and its not my intention, I wrote this book for the youth and adult, I created this book for enjoyment and I believe I have accomplished that, I hope it encourages the youth who have read it, to keep going and not give up.

"Listen to your heart and follow your dreams."

If you have not yet read this book, I sure hope you do. And I hope you pass it on and on and so on.

But I don't want to bore you, so I leave you now. If your a hockey player, remember... keep your head up!

This is Lawrence Bear,

Good night and good luck!

Dreams of Glory, Scores a Hit

In the last 5 months, my book has been getting good reviews and comments. There are people who stop me and ask if it is I who wrote this book, since I did not have time to search for a picture, to go on the back of the book. I tell them yes, and point out the small bio about myself, where it states where I am residing. They give me a hand shake, and tell me how good it was, and it was one book they could not put down, they finished it in 2 days, some over night.

I am very pleased that they purchased and took time to read my story. I was taken back by our local librarian, who has purchased 2 books for our residents of the area, and she told me her brother read it in 2 days, he really liked it, also he came and shook my hand while I was in the mall, I later learned from her, that he is one too not read, never, and he borrowed it from the library and read it. Wow, now that is something, for one person who never takes interest in reading, to sit down and read my book, well, is quite the feeling when you hear something like that. :)

As far as I know, I have sold 106 copies that I know of, that isn't including the ones that were on book web sites, I certainly hope it reaches a lot of people and makes an impact.

I am not out to make millions off it, that is not what I intended or wanted to do. But what I am after, is to show the teens, the ones who struggle with everyday pressures, the ones who are striving for their dreams, the ones who feel left out, the ones who want to give up, I want to show them, all dreams are possible. And not to give up so easily, I have a message in my story, to keep striving forward, even when it seems hopeless, I wrote one line for a key character in my story, this line says it all. "Listen to your heart, follow your dreams, never let go, and never give up." This story deals with peer pressure, teen problems, racism, alcohol, sex and teen pregnancy. These issues are what our teens face today, and If they read this book, maybe it will help them in someway, and maybe open their eyes some.

Thank you for taking time to read my blog, and in closing, I like to sign off with the catch phrase words of Spock, "Live long and prosper."

More about me

I have played triple A hockey for the Cranberry Portage Hawks for a short period of time. Also I have played Junior B with Peguis and Junior A with Flin Flon. I have encountered many injuries through out my career, but none to which I had to hang up my skates. Hockey here in northern Manitoba, is almost a religion. Where I'm from, Peguis Indian Band. We have a tremendous fan base, also we have quit the few talented players from here. Junior B here is like playing in the WHL, Western Hockey League. The fans nearly bring the house down on big hits and spectacular goals. Our house is always packed and always cheer on our Juniors.

I have also had a short stint in the SJHL, Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Boy I had to be fast for this league, if I was caught looking down at the puck. It was nighty night. Believe me, there is nothing like the crowd roaring when you get plastered. And the high you get when you score, they love you. Horns blaring, the crowd doing the wave, It's gloriuos.

I have written this book on experiance as a player, it is completely fiction. Where it takes place is where I have played and loved. Hockey to me at one point in my life was my pride and joy, the air I breath. Now I only play from time to time, it is still my passion, I still relive those moments in my past, when I lace up my blades on more time. It was my dream to be the best, these were my dreams of glory.

I hope I have provided you, with more intake of my life as a hockey player.

The Most Anticipated Book

Hello to my book followers,

First of all, I would like to thank those near and dear to me. Thank you for your support on my journey to become a published author. This will be one of the most anticipated stories of all time.

This story will draw you in. You will feel the excitement, the roar of the crowd. You will feel the hair on the back of your neck stand up, from the crushing body checks, the saves, the grinding and the glory of scoring. You will be in for a emotional thrill ride through out the book. Once you hop on board, there is no turning back. This book, will be the ride of your life.

Following dreams isn't always a walk in the park, sometimes we encounter distractions. It is up to us to decide, whether to jump into the game, or stand and watch as they float by. This story will take you on a journey, and maybe forever known as an epic.
